Make Every Drop Count With T3RRA

When you live and work on one of the driest continents on earth, you need to make every drop count. We caught up James Rovers from terrain-based water management company T3RRA to talk about the latest in landforming technology.

Since 2015, T3RRA has been providing precision terrain solutions to allow farmers to reshape the surface of their fields to increase water efficiency, improve manageability and boost profits.

T3RRA Territory Manager James Rovers knows just how important the smart use of water can be.

Starting with just two employees, building and marketing a single software product, T3RRA now markets four main software products in markets across just as many continents and a growing number of countries across the globe.

“The tools we build are designed to work seamlessly with the John Deere platforms, including John Deere’s online Operations Centre and John Deere machinery.

“There’s T3RRA Cutta, our all-in-one landforming package sold by John Deere dealers like our friends at Hutcheon & Pearce. We also offer T3RRA Ditch for designing and implementing ditches and levees, our laser levelling solution T3RRA Plane, and T3RRA Survey, our easy-to use package making it simple to collect full field or ditch and drain surveys without tying up your existing earthmoving software and equipment.

“We also offer professional desktop terrain modelling software, T3RRA Design. It can help achieve any earthworks layout required and is loved by our professional users.

“While we specialise in spatial algorithms and GPS driven applications for agriculture, we also have electronics specialists on staff and custom build our own machine control and sensing systems.

“We are small and innovative company, and we regularly update our software to give our amazing customers the very latest tools and techniques we have to offer farmers.”

T3RRA now employs nine staff in Queensland, Victoria and Arkansas USA. Along with markets in the USA and Australia, they have established sales into Canada, Central America and Europe and are investigating new markets in Africa, South Easter Asia and South America.

Duncan McCallum, a civil/earthworks contractor based in Coolamon, has had good results using T3RRACutta.
“We operate more than 20 large pieces of earthmoving equipment including dozers, excavators, graders and scrapers, from all leading brands and recently purchased a John Deere 9620R that pulls a Horwood Bagshaw grader bucket. This plant has been equipped with the T3RRA Cutta GPS system.
“We chose this option over conventional scraper GPS systems for the flexibility it provides. Set-up time on the job is now down to under 10 minutes and survey and designing of jobs can be done in-cab for drainage, hard stands, roads and irrigation bays within minutes.
